about

Trapizon (Trabzon) is a town on the north-east coast of Turkey. Situated along the Black Sea, it was an important stage for international trade between Europe and Asia during the first half of the 19th Century. Since the opening of the Suez canal, the town’s trading days have ended but it remains an important port for transport between the Caucasus and Iran. A large Armenian community of Hemshin people lived here, and they invariably played this dance in 6/8 at marriages.
